A message from APPD: Secure Your Bikes & Vehicles

The Asbury Park Police Department is issuing a friendly reminder to secure your bikes and vehicles. Help keep our community from being victimized by opportunistic criminals. Always lock your car doors and your bikes.

Don’t be a target!

* When using a bike, it’s safer to use a quality cable/bar lock and secure the bike to a fixed object (preferably a bike parking station).
* Lock your car doors and glove compartment and arm anti-theft devices such as your car alarm.
* Don’t leave items visible inside your car like loose change, GPS units, cell phones, laptops or any other small electronics.
* If you must leave items in your car, store them in the trunk so they are not visible.
* Never leave keys inside your vehicle, even if they cannot be seen.
* Try to park in well-lit parking areas so a potential thief could be seen if attempting to get into your car.
