9/7/23, Asbury Park, NJ – Asbury Park City Council is pleased to announce the ground breaking for the new Asbury Park Fire Department Headquarters. The two-story, 29,600-square foot facility will serve as the new home to Asbury Park Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services. Located along the east side of Memorial Drive between Bangs and Springwood Avenues, the building has been designed to accommodate the department’s current equipment and future needs. The facility will include eight vehicle bays, administrative offices and dormitory facilities for full-time firefighters and staff, an emergency management command center, and a museum area that will be open to the public.
The City’s engineering firm, T&M Associates, serves as the construction management firm. The facility was designed by project architect Shore Point Architecture, and Wallace Bros., Inc. will be constructing the facility. Construction is expected to take 16 to 18 months.
“APFD’s current facility has served the City for well over a century,” said Mayor John Moor. “This long-awaited and much-needed facility is not only an investment in the Fire Department but also an investment in the community we serve.”
