3/3/22, Asbury Park, NJ – The City of Asbury Park is preparing for the Mayor’s Rock & Roll for Recreation fundraiser scheduled for Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 6-10pm at The Stone Pony located at 913 Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park. Tickets are $85 and will include a fun-filled evening featuring live music, a buffet dinner, one-hour open bar and silent auction, with all proceeds benefiting the Asbury Park Summer Recreation Program.

Asbury Park Recreation Department’s most popular initiative, the Asbury Park Summer Recreation Program, is a six-week camp in conjunction with the Asbury Park Board of Education. It offers children breakfast and lunch, educational morning sessions and fun afternoons including supervised trips to popular destinations such as Liberty Science Center, Medieval Times, SkyZone, Asbury Park beaches and local businesses. The program also hires older youth as junior counselors, providing them with summer employment.

This year’s Mayor’s Rock & Roll for Recreation fundraiser is a high-energy update of the famed Rodeo for Recreation which has raised over $100,000 in funding for the Asbury Park Summer Recreation Program since 2016.

“Due to the popularity and expense of the Asbury Park Summer Recreation Program, in 2015, we unfortunately had to turn away 50 children from camp,” said Mayor John Moor, “I knew I had to do whatever it took to make sure that never happened again, and the next year, the Mayor’s Rodeo for Recreation fundraiser was born. We’re incredibly grateful to the community and our sponsors for their generous support of this incredible program. Thanks to them, I’m proud to say we’ve never had to turn anyone away since.”

“After having to reschedule the Rodeo several times due to Covid-19, we knew we would have to do something extra special – we’re looking forward to Rock & Roll for Recreation at the legendary Stone Pony!”

Sponsorships for the event are still available. Top tier sponsors to date include: The Asbury Hotel, AP Toy Drive, Jersey Shore Running Club, Stone Pony, Chamber of Commerce, Sackman Enterprises, RentAsburyPark, Pepsi, Madison Marquette, Light of Day Foundation, Home Drug Store, Breakwater, NJ Natural Gas, First Atlantic, First Energy, SeaHearNow, Ansell, Grimm and Aaron, Kivitt, Delisa, Millennium, and The Coaster.

For the health and safety of our attendees, proof of Covid-19 vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test result within 72 hours of event will be required for entry.
