Residential Permit Parking Guide 2022

City of Asbury Park 2022 Parking Updates
 2022 Parking Permits on Sale Beginning January 3, 2022


12/16/2021, Asbury Park, NJ – The City of Asbury Park continues to improve the parking experience for residents, employees and visitors. Beginning January 3, 2022, the City will expand permit and metered parking areas with the goal of increasing turnover and allowing residents to more easily find parking spaces. 2022 Parking Permits will go on sale January 3, 2022. To allow current parking permit holders time to purchase their 2022 permits, existing 2021 residential permits will be valid until March 31, 2022 and existing 2021 employee permits will be valid until January 31, 2022. Enforcement of expanded metered parking areas will begin April 1, 2022. In addition, the City will expand alternate side parking to additional areas to allow for improved street cleaning.

Updated Permit and Metered Parking Areas
 
Based on a resident survey conducted by the City’s Parking Committee, as well as additional data analysis, permit parking areas will be expanded as outlined below beginning January 3, 2022 with enforcement beginning April 1, 2022:

  • Zone 2
    • Bergh Street between Asbury and Third Avenues will be converted to metered parking and added to the permit parking area
    • First Avenue between Bergh Street and Grand Avenue will be converted to metered parking and added to the permit parking area
    • Heck Street between Asbury Avenue and First Avenue will be converted to metered parking and added to the permit parking area
  • Zone 3
    • Resident-only parking on the north side of Third Avenue between Grand Avenue and Bergh Street will be introduced
    • The south side of Third Avenue between Bergh Street and Grand Avenue will be converted to metered parking and added to the permit parking area
    • The south side of Fourth Avenue between Bergh Street and Grand Avenue will be converted to metered parking and added to the permit parking area
    • Bergh Street between Second and Fifth Avenues will be converted to metered parking and added to the permit parking area
  • In additionMattison Avenue between Main Street and Cookman Avenue, Bangs Avenue between Main Street and Cookman Avenue, and Bond and Emory Streets between Bangs and Cookman Avenues will be changed from the 33200 Parking Zone to the 33100 Downtown Parking Zone.

    2022 Parking Permits on Sale Starting January 3, 2022
     
    2022 Resident and Employee Parking Permits will on sale starting Monday, January 3, 2022. Permits can be purchased through the online portal (www.thepermitportal.com). To give existing employee and resident permit holders time to purchase their 2022 permits, existing 2021 residential permits will be valid until March 31, 2022 and existing 2021 employee permits will be valid until January 31, 2021. All current resident parking permit holders will need to apply with all of their current documentation as required before March 31, 2022.

  • Requirements: Residents and employees should review eligibility and documentation requirements prior to applying online and/or visiting the Parking Office. Requirements can be found in the 2022 Residential and Employee Permit Parking Guides at www.cityofasburypark.com/parking.
  • Fees: There are no changes to the Resident or Employee Parking Permit fees for 2022.
  • Bangs Avenue Parking Garage: Renewal applications for 2022 Bangs Avenue Garage Parking Permits are available to Zone 4 residents who currently have a Bangs Avenue Garage Parking Permit. Beginning January 3, 2022, available spaces will be offered to new applicants.

Expanded Alternate Side Parking Regulated Areas for Street Cleaning

  • Beginning on January 3, 2022 (with enforcement beginning February 1, 2022), alternate side parking regulations will be expanded to the following streets to allow for improved street cleaning:
  • Third Avenue
    • No parking on the north side Tuesdays 9:00am to 11:00am between Memorial Drive and Comstock Street, and between Pine Street and Bridge Street
    • No parking on the south side Thursdays 9:00am to 11:00am between Memorial Drive and Bridge Street
  • Fourth Avenue
    • No parking on the north side Tuesdays 9:00am to 11:00am between Memorial Drive and Bridge Street
    • No parking on the south side Thursdays 9:00am to 11:00am between Memorial Drive and Bridge Street
  • Fifth Avenue
    • No parking on the north side Tuesdays 9:00am to 11:00am between Memorial Drive and Bridge Street
    • No parking on the south side Thursdays 9:00am to 11:00am between Memorial Drive and Bridge Street
  • Prospect Avenue
    • No parking on the north side Monday 9:00am to 11:00am between Asbury Avenue and Church Street
    • No parking on the south side Friday 9:00am to 11:00am between Asbury Avenue and Church Street
  • Church Street
    • No parking on the north side Monday 9:00 am to 11:00 am between Asbury Avenue and Monroe Avenue
    • No parking on the south side Friday 9:00 am to 11:00 am between Asbury Avenue and Monroe Avenue
  • Pine Street
    • No parking on the north side Monday 9:00 am to 11:00 am between Asbury Avenue and Monroe Avenue
    • No parking on the south side Friday 9:00 am to 11:00 am between Asbury Avenue and Monroe Avenue
  • Langford Street
    • No parking on the west side Monday 9:00 am to 11:00 am between Mattison Avenue and Prospect Avenue
    • No parking on the east side Friday 9:00 am to 11:00 am between Mattison Avenue and Prospect Avenue
  • Cookman Avenue
    • No parking on the north side Monday 9:00 am to 11:00 am between Memorial Drive and Langford Street
    • No parking on the south side Friday 9:00 am to 11:00 am between Memorial Drive and Langford Street
  • Monroe Avenue
    • No parking on the north side Tuesday 9:00 am to 11:00 am between Grand Avenue and Heck Street
    • No parking on the south side Thursday 9:00 am to 11:00 am between Grand Avenue and Heck Street
  • Sewall Avenue
    • No parking on the north side Tuesday 9:00 am to 11:00 am between Grand Avenue and Heck Street
    • No parking on the south side Thursday 9:00 am to 11:00 am between Grand Avenue and Heck Street
  • Bergh Street
    • No parking on the east side Tuesday 9:00 am to 11:00 am between Asbury Avenue and Fifth Avenue
    • No parking on the west side Thursday 9:00 am to 11:00 am between Asbury Avenue and Fifth Avenue
