City of Asbury Park Announces Utility Assistance and Home Repair Assistance Partnerships  with Community Affairs Resource Center and Coastal Habitat for Humanity

11/10/21, Asbury Park, NJ – The Asbury Park City Council is pleased to announce new partnerships with Community Affairs Resource Center to provide utility assistance and Coastal Habitat for Humanity to provide home repair assistance to Asbury Park residents. Funding for the programs is provided by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

The Utility Assistance program will be administered through the Community Affairs Resource Center’s (CARC) current Homelessness Prevention program. Asbury Park households in need may seek assistance from CARC staff to review eligibility and submit an application for coverage of gas, electric and water bills.

The Home Repair Assistance program will be administered through the Coastal Habitat for Humanity to assist Asbury Park homeowners in fixing their properties to come into compliance with cited code enforcement violations. Homeowners in Asbury Park will work with Coastal Habitat to review eligibility and submit an application for coverage of home repairs.

“The City of Asbury Park is putting Community Development Block Grant funds to work for our community,” said Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn, “The Utility Assistance and Home Repair Assistance programs promote the welfare and safety of our residents. We are thankful to Community Affairs Resource Center and Coastal Habitat for Humanity for the incredible work they do in Asbury Park.”

“We are proud to be able to provide assistance to the Asbury Park community,” said Community Development Block Grant Director Cassandra Dickerson, “Our partnerships with Community Affairs Resource Center and Coastal Habitat for Humanity will help ease the financial burden on Asbury Park residents who can’t make utility payments or cover the cost of home repairs.
