About the Technical Review Committee

The City’s Technical Review Committee (TRC) was originally created by Ordinance Number 2626, adopted on January 22, 2003. The TRC is an advisory body which helps in the processing of applications for development of projects within the Waterfront Redevelopment Area and advises the City Council acting as the Redevelopment Agency for the City. The TRC is the first step in the development review process for projects within the Waterfront Redevelopment Area.

All developers within the Asbury Park Waterfront Redevelopment Area shall submit architectural, civil engineering and landscaping plans to the TRC for review and comments. All construction projects within the Waterfront Redevelopment Area shall receive comments from the TRC prior to submission to the Mayor and Council acting as the Redevelopment Agency for the City.

The TRC by ordinance consists of eight persons, including the Council member who also serves on the Planning Board, a representative of the State Department of Environmental Protection, a representative of the State Department of Community Affairs, a professional planner, a licensed architect, the Chairman of the Planning Board, the engineer serving the Planning Board, and a representative of the waterfront developer designated by Asbury Partners, LLC.
