Firearms Identification Card & Handgun Permit

To obtain an initial firearms identification card and handgun permit in the City of Asbury Park complete the following steps:

1. Download the Initial Firearms Identification and Handgun Permit Form (PDF)
2. Print out the form and complete it
3. Return the completed form to the Records Bureau window in the main lobby of the City of Asbury Park Police Department.
4. Get your contributor’s case number for your fingerprint form. (this number will be given to you by the Records Bureau personnel when you turn in your application)
5. Follow the instructions to get your fingerprints completed on the fingerprint form located in the packet.
6. Wait for someone to contact you in regards to your process.

In order to obtain a Firearms Identification Card and/or a Firearm, you must meet eligibility requirements and comply with the Statutes which govern firearms purchases in the State of New Jersey.
