About the Green Team

The Green Team leads and coordinates the global sustainability movement at a local level, ensuring a sustainable future for the City of Asbury Park and its community. The Green Team inspires our community to develop and implement solutions that positively impact our environment and ensure an equitable future.

Mission Statement:

The City of Asbury Park’s Green Team is dedicated to guiding and assisting its residents, businesses, and city government in becoming a community that meets the needs of the present while preserving the resources available for future generations.

Vision:

The Green Team envisions a vibrant community that embraces intersectionality and shares a culture that embraces best practices for sustainable and equitable living, business, development, and environmental justice.

Green Team members meet with the municipal designees to develop and implement activities that align with the sustainability guidelines of Sustainable Jersey, and facilitate the certification of the City as a green town. The Green Team is also instrumental in hosting an annual Green Expo to educate, inspire, and implement environmentally positive practices and principles within the city. The role of Green Team members includes advocacy, building networks to support environmental actions, developing short and long-term plans, education, facilitating action, identifying community resources and assets, and supporting project implementation.
