Firefighter Recruit New Hire Information

We would like to express our appreciation for your interest in pursuing a career as a Firefighter for the City of Asbury Park. Currently the Asbury Park Fire Department conducts Firefighter hiring by utilizing a Civil Service list maintained by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission. Applications for the current cycle were available from January 1, 2010 through May 29, 2010. PLEASE NOTE: The written exam is projected for the Fall 2010 with the Physical Performance Test (PPT) to follow in the spring of 2011. Please visit the New Jersey Civil Service Commission web site at http://www.state.nj.us/csc/public_safety/ffighters_titles.htm, for orientation guides. Orientation guides are in pdf format which will require you to have the freely distributed Acrobat Reader installed prior to downloading.

Once you have taken the civil service exam you will then be ranked according to score, and will be notified accordingly. Applicants who achieve a high ranking will be certified by the Civil Service Commission, and the hiring procedure will begin with the appointing authority as the need for additional Firefighters arises.
