Hello friends and fellow Downtown Asbury Park Business owners!
As part of the Asbury Park Business Committee, we’ve been thinking of ways to drive traffic to all of our businesses as off-season starts. With the influx of visitors expected for the “Sea. Hear. Now” Festival, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to promote the businesses that make our City unique. We hope you’ll join us for the Shop. Here. Now Block Party and sidewalk sale, the first, of hopefully many, downtown shopping events.
Shop. Here. Now Block PartySaturday 9/21 and Sunday 9/22 from 12pm-5pm Join all of your favorite downtown businesses and learn how to shop, drink and eat like a local!Cookman Avenue, Asbury Park
While the event will take place on Cookman Avenue so that we can create a festive atmosphere, our goal is for all businesses in the area to participate. We encourage businesses off of Cookman to team up with businesses on Cookman to help create a corridor of sales. For instance, Paranormal would be happy to host another business at a table on the sidewalk. If you are a business looking for a spot to set up on Cookman, or would like to host a business on the sidewalk in front of your store, please email email@example.com by September 12th and we will help coordinate.
For businesses on Cookman, we encourage you to keep your doors open and set up a table outside your business to put your best sale items out! Whether it's food, beverages, clothing, candles... let's leave a lasting impression on visitors. And please decorate as you will...balloons, bubbles, branded merchandise, etc... the more festive the atmosphere the longer our guests will stay... and shop.
Also, in speaking to the organizers of the “Sea. Hear. Now” Festival, we are suggesting that businesses extend hours of operation on Friday 9/20 and open on Monday 9/23. They received feedback from last year’s attendees that people were looking for something to do Friday night, in addition to drinking and eating, as well as on Monday since they were staying in town Sunday night. Being open on Monday is a great way to get more people into your establishments. For example, last year we noticed an influx of traffic on Saturday and Sunday at Interwoven, so this year we will be extending our hours on Friday and possibly on Saturday and Sunday.Interested in participating in the Shop. Here Now Block Party? If you’re a registered business in Asbury Park, email firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday 9/12. We’ll email you the flyer that you can use to promote the block party, in addition to dropping off hard copies for your store.
Thanks for helping make our first downtown shopping event a success for everyone.
Your Asbury Park Business Committee Co-Chairs, Bianca Freda (email@example.com) Kathy Kelly (firstname.lastname@example.org)
